CYBERSECURITY

Bright Pixel Capital portfolio company Probely is acquired by Snyk

The Portuguese Developer-First DAST Provider is now part of the North American cybersecurity company

Probely, a Portuguese startup specialized in Dynamic Application Security Testing (DAST), i.e. the development of vulnerability testing solutions for websites, application programming interfaces (APIs) and web applications, has been acquired by Snyk, a North American company specializing in cybersecurity.

The idea for the startup was developed in Bright Pixel’s incubation program and Probely spun off as an independent entity in 2017. Bright Pixel was the first investor in its pre-seed round, participating in subsequent rounds and supporting the company’s growth until its acquisition by Snyk.

โ€œProbely’s acquisition by Snyk validates its pioneering vision in the DAST space and highlights the exceptional Portuguese talent behind innovative tech solutions. As long-time partners of Probely since its inception, we are proud of its remarkable journey and this milestone that will enable Probely global scaling and enhance Snykโ€™s developer security solutions portfolioโ€, says Fernando Jorge Martins, Director of Cybersecurity at Bright Pixel.

In today’s GenAI era, where Large Language Model (LLM) applications heavily rely on APIs, incorporating robust API security testing has become mission-critical. Snyk now delivers a comprehensive suite of development and application security solutions. This empowers customers to leverage a wider array of testing methods with ease, enhancing security in a developer-friendly way.

โ€œFor global security leaders seeking to further accelerate trusted AI adoption, adding Probelyโ€™s technology and expertise further extends the breadth and depth of Snykโ€™s platform,โ€ said Peter McKay, CEO of Snyk. โ€œTogether, weโ€™re looking forward to pushing our market forward with our shared developer-first vision that effectively balances rapid innovation with security guardrails.โ€

Nuno Loureiro, CEO & Co-Founder and CEO of Probely, adds: โ€œLike Snyk, from day one, Probely has been laser-focused on empowering developers to build securely. With this shared ethos as a foundation, weโ€™re humbled to be part of Snykโ€™s growing global team and increase our value to customers.โ€

By combining coverage for these critical assets with Snykโ€™s existing Developer Security Platform, global enterprises can take a strengthened defense-in-depth approach to application security (AppSec). Snyk and Probely share a developer-centric mindset, and this latest acquisition supports the real-world vulnerability insights of dynamic testing of APIs and applications in a way that allows developers to increase their productivity securely.
