Bright Pixel Capital appoints Mike Privette as Cybersecurity Venture Partner

Appointment strengthens Bright Pixel’s cybersecurity investment expertise and marks a new phase in the firm’s evolution as a global investment platform.

Bright Pixel Capital, the venture capital investment arm of the Sonae Group, is strengthening its commitment to one of its most strategic investment areas by appointing Mike Privette as Cybersecurity Venture Partner, further consolidating its presence within the global innovation and investment ecosystem.

Founder of Return on Security, a research and market intelligence platform focused on the cybersecurity industry, Mike Privette is a recognised voice in the sector and has previously served as advisor to companies including Trustero, Aspiron Search, Nullify and Subsalt. With extensive experience across security leadership, investment and advisory, Mike will support Bright Pixel’s cybersecurity investment activities by strengthening access to specialised networks, helping identify emerging opportunities in an increasingly technical and competitive market, and supporting portfolio companies with his expertise.

The appointment represents another strategic step in Bright Pixel’s evolution as an investment platform. It reflects the firm’s ambition to deepen its proximity to domain experts with strong sector knowledge, combining market experience, ecosystem insight and differentiated perspectives on long-term trends, competitive dynamics and high-growth opportunities.

“Mike’s work at Return on Security has set a standard for how the cybersecurity market is analyzed, the discipline of separating signal from narrative is exactly the lens we want close to our investment decisions. As the sector becomes more critical and more complex, that clarity is essential to making better investment decisions, and to how we support our founders.” said Fernando Martins, Cybersecurity Director at Bright Pixel.

For Mike Privette, joining Bright Pixel was a natural decision driven by the team’s vision for the cybersecurity sector and the firm’s approach to investing in technology companies. “A large part of my career has been dedicated to understanding how cybersecurity companies are built and financed,” said Mike Privette, Cybersecurity Venture Partner at Bright Pixel. “At Bright Pixel, I found a team with a clear investment thesis, global ambition and a thoughtful approach to working with founders. I’m excited to join as Venture Partner and contribute with my perspective, network and experience to a sector that I believe will continue shaping the future of technology.”

Bright Pixel will continue strengthening its ability to identify emerging trends, access high-quality networks and support startups through critical stages of growth by combining capital, specialised expertise and deep ecosystem connectivity.
